ONE LOOP. FOUR DISTANCES. 32 HOURS OF TRAIL.

This Saturday, the pines along Lake Hartwell turn into one of the friendliest ultras in the Upstate. Sadlers Creek Stumble is a 6.8-mile loop you can run once, twice, four times, or all night long.

Run it once for the 10K. Twice for the half. Four laps for the marathon. Or take on the 32 Hour and chase 15 loops and 100 miles. Finish all 15 and the belt buckle is yours. 🏆

Sadlers Creek Stumble
Saturday, October 17 – Sunday, October 18
All races start at 8:45 AM
Sadlers Creek State Park, 940 Sadlers Creek Rd, Anderson, SC

What to expect:
32 Hour, Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K on the same loop
Camping right next to the course
Soup, pancakes and a campfire waiting at the finish
Drop to a shorter distance if the day goes sideways

Every registration helps support the Upstate Giving Series and the local nonprofits it serves.

Some run for the medal. Some run for the buckle. Everyone stays for the campfire. 🔥

RD life: wearing ALL the hats 🎩

Being a race director means wearing a lot of hats at once: course, permits, volunteers, timing, vendors, charities, and, most importantly, you, the runner. That’s a balancing act on a calm morning. Try it with 40 mph wind and sideways rain trying to blow every one of those hats into the next county.

We get it. A change or cancellation is frustrating. You trained, planned, paid, found a sitter and set that painfully early alarm. We put in months of work too, and believe us, nobody hates calling off a race more than we do.

But if we want to keep putting on affordable, well-run and safe events for years to come, we need a game plan we stick to every time:

Watching the forecast like it owes us money
Setting clear wind, lightning and storm limits ahead of time, not at 5am in the parking lot
Making the call for the safety of runners, volunteers and staff, not the budget
Telling you fast and giving you real options when plans change

Lots of races in the region went on this past weekend, and some had to cancel. Both calls came from directors doing their jobs.

When it comes down to it, the mission hasn’t changed. We want to get people moving, support the charities this community rallies behind, and get everyone home safe and dry-ish.

Now for the important stuff: have you got your Halloween costume yet? 🎃 Drop it in the comments. Bonus points if it’s race-ready, because we’d love to see a few at the start line this season.

Sadlers Creek Stumble is Saturday, October 17 on Lake Hartwell. 🏕️

One 6.8-mile loop through the pines at Sadlers Creek State Park. Run it once for the 10K, twice for the half, four times for the marathon, or keep going in the 32 Hour. All races start at 8:45 AM.

Camp next to the course, then stay for soup, pancakes, and the campfire.

Our races support 30 Upstate nonprofits through the Upstate Giving Series. Two of them: March of Dimes, which fights for the health of moms and babies, and The Champions Center for Special Children, which provides education and therapy for children with special needs in Anderson. 💚

Earn Your Wings 5K, rain edition. Clearance for takeoff came with a steady drizzle, and the wind made sure nobody coasted. The home stretch ran straight into a headwind.

Wings officially earned. ✈️

Thank you to everyone who showed up, ran wet, and cheered louder than the weather.

Hey runners,,,,

We are cancelling the Paris Mountain Half Marathon this weekend.

The wind forecast makes the course unsafe. We also have to think beyond the trail. Many of you are traveling in from all over, and emergency services will already be stretched thin with storm calls. We won’t add to their load. If conditions get worse and the park has to close during the event, we could not get everyone off the mountain safely. That is not a risk we will take with you.

We will not be rescheduling. No date works for everyone, and realistically there isn’t one that works for most.

Here is what you can do with your entry:

Transfer to another race. We have 30 races on the calendar. Pick any of them.

Transfer your entry to another runner. Just visiting the area? Sell your entry to someone local, and they can move it to any of our races.

Defer to 2027. Your spot carries over to next year’s Paris Mountain Half. We also lost this race to the recent hurricanes, so we’re hoping 2027 finally gives us a clean race day.

Take a 50% off code. You can use it at any URS race, any time. Tip: we open registration at 50% off, so use your code then and you’ll get 75% off.

Transfer fees are waived. There is no transfer or processing fee for any of these options. The only exception is moving to a race that costs more than you paid for this one. In that case you pay just the difference.

Looking for your next race? These series pages list the races currently open for transfer:

Upstate Trail Series: https://runsignup.com/Series/UpstateUltraGetDirty
Upstate Ultra Series: https://runsignup.com/Series/UpstateUltraSC
How to choose:

To transfer to another race or to another runner, log in to your RunSignUp profile at https://runsignup.com/Profile and choose the transfer option on your Paris Mountain Half registration.

To defer to 2027 or get your 50% off code, reply to this email by [deadline] and tell us which one you want.

About refunds: About $1,500 is already spent on this event for insurance, permits, portables, and the park reservation, and none of it comes back. We can’t offer refunds to everyone, but we’ve tried to make each option above worth your while.

Thank you for understanding. We would rather disappoint you today than put anyone at risk on the mountain.

Paris Mountain Half Marathon: weather update 🌧️

Hey everyone, just touching base. We really want to forge ahead tomorrow, but at this point it’s Paris Mountain State Park’s call. The park is telling me, and I agree, that sustained 20 mph winds with gusts to 35 mph are a dangerous combination on a wooded course.

We’ve seen this before. When weather forced us to cancel Jones Gap, we ran Paris Mountain that Sunday and found trees down all over the trails. We’re not going to put anyone under that.

We’ll let everyone who’s signed up know by 4:00 PM today whether we’re on for tomorrow. Again, the decision is in the park’s hands, and we’ll pass it along the moment we hear.

Thanks for your patience, and stay safe out there 💪
