Groundhogs Lap Race

Our Groundhog's Lap Race (and those double points 👀) definitely made things interesting on our updated Club Cup Leaderboard.

VBC Run Club moves into the top spot with a strong performance and takes over the lead for the season so far. It was a big day for them, and it shows on the board.
Gate City Athletics, who held first after WTF, now finds themselves tied for second with High Point Athletic Club. It’s a tight race at the top, and the gap is smaller than ever.

We also saw Greensboro Running Club climb into third place, proof that steady effort (especially in a double-points race) can make a big difference. With the points weighted heavier this time around, there were some shifts on the leaderboard. F3 Greensboro move off for now, while Twin City Track Club and Fleet Feet Rock Runners worked their way into the mix. Two races in, and it’s already shaping up to be a competitive season.

Every event counts and if this week was any indication, positions can change quickly.

Next race is coming up soon. Bring your teammates, show up ready to put in the work, and let’s see how the board looks after Northeast Park Duathlon!

Congratulations to our Groundhog's Lap Race participants and our overall winners for 2026! Whether you were tackling the 3, 6 or 12 hour race, we hope you enjoyed the snow free trails, hot food and left with a water bottle full of stickers. And a special thanks to our volunteers! Race week is finally here… again! Just like Groundhog Day, this one’s worth reliving and we’re so grateful to everyone who rolled with us as we hit the reset button and postponed the race. We made it through the worst of winter, and now it’s time to come out, run some laps, and celebrate!
This weekend’s Groundhog’s Lap Race is packed with all the fun: grab your race water bottle and deck it out with our race-specific stickers, including special edition postponement stickers! Expect a fully loaded aid station with plenty of fuel to keep you moving, and stick around after the race for awards, snacks, and good vibes.
We’re so excited to see you out there, doing laps, making memories, and proving that this Groundhog Day has a very happy ending. See you at the start line! 🏁💛

It’s starting to feel a little like Groundhog Day… and unfortunately, the snow keeps repeating itself.

Due to heavy snow across North Carolina and forecasts calling for several inches of accumulation this Saturday, the state park made the call to postpone this weekend’s Groundhog’s Lap Race. As much as we love a challenge, runner safety has to come first.

The race has been rescheduled for February 14th

We’re definitely bummed, but hopeful that this gives us a safer (and maybe less snowy) chance to celebrate Groundhog Day together on the run

Good news: registration will remain open, so if you or a friend were still on the fence, there’s still time to join us when the race hits replay.

Thanks for your patience, flexibility, and understanding — stay warm and we’ll be back before you know it. 🦫❄️

🦫 Weather Update 🌦️

As of Tuesday, January 27th, at 8:00 AM, we are closely monitoring the weather for this Saturday’s race. Our top priority is the safety of our athletes.

Current forecasts show a high likelihood of snow beginning Friday evening and continuing into Saturday. We will make a final decision by Thursday, January 29th, at 5:00 PM EST on whether we will:
🔁 Move forward with the race on Saturday, January 31
🔁 Postpone to Saturday, February 7

If we are able to race this Saturday, we are also exploring an alternate course option at Haw River State Park, including access to an indoor warming station 🏠🔥
