When serving in an administrative capacity, especially on the executive level, people will seek close connections with you to be indirectly close to the top. Not because of genuine concern or desire to support, but to sabotage the vision. Administrators are the front line of operational protection which requires high level discernment. Set your boundaries and watch the wolves disguised as sheep.

It was on this day (8/1), 3 years ago, I embarked on a new journey to prune and prepare me for another encounter of purpose meeting destiny. Now that I have officially closed that chapter, I’m excited for the experience that has equipped me for greater! As I finally board my last flight after enduring 2 delays, I’m encouraged that the faults of humanity can’t alter His directed path. It will indeed be my pleasure to serve in the place that crafted my servant character. Purpose will always align with destiny when you don’t lean to your own understanding. …I’m back home, y’all! Confidentiality is (or should be) a core principle for any administrator, regardless of professional level. As the first line of operations, you will be exposed to some sensitive information internally and externally. Although it may make for humorous or interesting conversation, you should always protect the integrity of person and institution you serve. Don’t forsake confidentiality for a moment of presumed relevance in conversation.

If you reduce your value to the sum of your work performance, you can become hostage to deliverables, missing the beauty in the totality of who you are which makes you capable of doing what you do. You are more than checking off completed tasks. There is more to you than what you provide for your executive or principal. You are a strong, sound-minded being equipped to bring stability and assurance with your presence. And this just happens to be experienced through the efficiency and effectiveness of your work ethic. Affirm yourself as you REMEMBER YOU ARE MORE THAN WHAT YOU DO!
