We are at the Franklin County Fair this weekend with our comprehensive recycle/compost program. Public education about recycling and composting is an important piece of this effort. This year, the fairgrounds installed a beautiful new open air pavilion with shaded picnic tables. One of the new food vendors near the pavilion was generating a lot of pizza boxes, so we installed this pizza box recycling center, complete with signage. Pizza boxes are recyclable, they just have to be empty. Grease is OK! ✅ ♻️

🎀 Celebrating Our New Community Pavilion!

On September 11, we were proud to officially celebrate the opening of the new Community Pavilion at the Franklin County Fairgrounds with a special ribbon cutting ceremony during the 177th Franklin County Fair!

We were honored to be joined by community leaders, elected officials, tourism partners, and many of the organizations and businesses that helped make this project possible.

Special thanks to our ceremony speakers:

⭐ Michael Nelson, President, Franklin County Fairgrounds
⭐ Michelle Dwyer, Franklin First Federal Credit Union
⭐ AJ Bresciano, Greenfield Savings Bank
⭐ State Representative Susannah Whipps
⭐ Koby Gardner-Levine, Office of Congressman Jim McGovern
⭐ Erin Anhalt on behalf of Mayor Desorgher, City of Greenfield
⭐ Kate Fox, Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism
⭐ Jessye Deane, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this project—from our sponsors and contractors to our volunteers, community partners, and friends of the Fairgrounds.

The pavilion represents another major investment in the future of the Franklin County Fairgrounds and provides a new year-round space for agriculture, festivals, community gatherings, educational programs, nonprofit events, and more.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this exciting addition to the Fairgrounds. We can't wait to see this space serving Franklin County for many years to come! ❤️🎡
