We are saddened to announce the passing of David Andrews, head judge for the Foundation for Scottish Athletics. David was beloved by everyone for his remarkable ability to remain calm amid chaos and a sense of humor that brought laughter even in the most stressful times.

David was one of the finest judges in the field and an athlete who qualified for and competed in the Masters World Championships. Most recently, David was a head judge at the 2024 Masters World Championship. He used his years of experience as an athlete to coach and mentor numerous individuals. David trained many athletes in the Tampa area and organized training sessions through his group, the Celtic Strong Throwing Team.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to athlete Brian Andrews, David’s brother, and David’s family.

David, we will miss your laughter, words of wisdom, strength, friendship, and everything else that made you who you were. We are all still in shock and will miss you immensely. Please know that you are loved and will never be forgotten. We will honor you. Rest in Peace.

Some Masters World Championships are held at preexisting festivals. 2024 MWC was built from scratch. It was a team effort, but the 2024 championship was truly built on the back of one person, Dawn Schull. I don’t think anyone on the team would dispute that Dawn poured her blood and sweat and tears and guts and love into the 2024 MWC. The heart she extended to the athletes and the games and audience blessed us, and somehow staved off the lightning storms that battered Clay County but left us alone. Thank you, Dawn for giving your all and producing an amazing weekend of sport and camaraderie.
