🎅 ❄️🤶🎄🎁 NOTICE: THERE WILL BE A CHANGE IN SANTA MEET AND GREETS AT THIS YEAR’S TREE LIGHTING.
We have some cold weather expected for this weekend, so the Holiday Committee would like to confirm/advise that the Tree Lighting program will occur on Friday night, with some changes. The parade will step off at 5:30pm (30 minutes early) and arrive at the Park by 5:45pm. The Tree/Park Lighting will take place at around 6:00pm. After this, there will be a large heater placed on the bandstand to keep children and Santa warm. This will allow us to repurpose the patio heaters to other locations in an effort to keep patrons, children, and staff warm. We will also dispense with using tickets to see Santa—things will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis to allow families to decide if they prefer to warm up at the refreshment tent (hot cider and cocoa provided), Boy Scout warming fire, pick up some hats/mittens (free) in the clothing booth, or on the horse and wagon rides, etc. while monitoring the size of the line for a visit with Santa. The Slate Valley Museum and Pember Library will also be hosting Open Houses if parents/children wish to visit there after the tree lighting and return at a later time to visit Santa. Santa will remain on the bandstand until at least 7:45pm, and has assured us that he will stay longer if children are still in line. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause, but we are doing our best to manage the conditions and to keep everyone as warm as possible on this chilly, festive night. Thanks for your understanding. 🎅❄️🤶🎄🎁
