Coming July, 2025 we're installing 20+ new murals in Downtown Grand Rapids, each highlighting a different native Michigan species!

Yeesh!! We’re finally getting around to sharing the beautiful final results of the 2025 PLEASANT PENINSULA MURAL FESTIVAL!!!

Our first of 21 native Michigan species murals is the GRAY WOLF 🐺 by artist La Güita & educator Gary Roloff!

With Güita’s permission, we’re sharing a little bit about the complicated circumstances of this install.

A few weeks before our installation week, Güita made the difficult decision to not travel to the US from Canada. As a Nicaraguan-Canadian, Güita was justifiably concerned about potential harassment that she might encounter at the US border. Though we were all disappointed, we knew we had to find a way to complete Güita’s beautiful design, communicate Gary’s research, & do our friend the Gray Wolf justice!

with Güita on facetime calling the shots, this mural was physically completed by Spencer, Evan, & Eddie. Güita was involved in every aspect of this installation, including the underlying message in her scribble grid: ESTAMOS FUERTES JUNTAS!!

as we see increased 🧊 activity spreading from Minnesota across the Great Lakes region, we are emboldened by Güita’s bravery & creative approach to a difficult situation. check out Octavia’s awesome & helpful graphics on the other slides for folks in Kent County.

if you’ve never participated in a protest or movement before, this is a great opportunity to start! this cause is nonpartisan, people-first, and born out of tremendous love & respect for our Great Lakes State. and— WE CAN WIN THIS THING!!! this is one of the most unifying issues of our lifetimes, with faceless billionaires & shady corporations so blatantly bulldozing the will of the people.

we must remind our elected officials that they work for THE PEOPLE, not Big Tech — & we the people overwhelmingly demand transparency & sustainability!!!

on Monday we’re hitting the streets to canvas & protest the proposed Saline Data Center. sign up to canvas in the morning at the link in our bio, & find out more from ! then stand strong with Michiganders statewide at the 4pm protest!! make a sign, bring your friends, get out of work early—this is a fight for our future!!!!

on WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 3 at 6:30pm — tune in for an ONLINE public hearing to make your voice heard!!! residents in Kalkaska county were hugely successful in shutting down the data center proposed in their area BECAUSE OF THEIR PUBLIC HEARING. If you do one thing for the future of our land & lakes, THIS SHOULD BE IT! ✊🏼🎣🌳🕊️

Big Tech is attempting to steal the resources of OUR PLEASANT PENINSULA! There are currently AI data centers proposed in Saline & Lowell that need URGENT OPPOSITION.

It’s not a good deal for water, wildlife or the people of our great state. If you agree, the time is NOW to make your voice heard. These projects are already underway, but there’s time to stop them. Sign the petition! Show up to the public hearings & protests! Call your reps!!!!

There’s big promises of prosperity, but with so much abundance in Michigan, there’s simply too much at stake. We know that the riches that Michigan is already blessed with are far more valuable than what Big Tech is promising us.

We want surface water, not surveillance! 🪨
We want groundwater, not greed! 🌳
We want our peninsula eternally PLEASANT! 🕊️

one last artist intro for our Upper Peninsula Fest—it’s Pleasant Peninsula’s big dog director Eddie Chaffer!!!!

Eddie is collaborating with Spencer () on a mural about the giants of the north woods 🌳🌲 Spencer on the Eastern Hemlock & Eddie on the White Pine!

Don’t get this guy started on trees unless you want to be held up for hours & hours on end. They want nothing more than to hear what kind of tree you think you are!!
