Future of GRR Runway 5K

It has been Trivium Racing's distinct pleasure to partner with the Gerald R. Ford International Airport to produce this unique event over the last several years.

When we first dreamed up this race in 2017, we never imagined it would be as popular as it was, or raise as much money for local charities as it did. If you were one of the 8,000 runners or walkers who joined us in Grand Rapids or virtually, thank you for being part of the event and supporting local organizations.

Gerald R. Ford Interval Airport has been an amazing partner and gone out of their way, working hard to produce this race. The 2026 version of this race will not take place while the airport decides whether or not we will continue to produce the Runway 5K. As many of you know, the airport puts on and hosts several different events to support the public, and all of this happens while still running a world class airport. Trivium Racing is standing by, ready to continue the partnership in 2027 if the airport decides to continue.

🎉 Congrats to the Kids Who Run Club! 🎉

Your crew took home the win in our GRR Runway 5K social media photo contest—and honestly, how could you not? We saw cartwheels, glitter, shenanigans, and pure joy from a group that clearly knows how to make the most of race day. 💫✈️

Shoutout to the kids (and the moms!) who brought the energy, the fun, and the sparkle to the runway. You made this year’s race unforgettable!

This past weekend, our West Michigan team members and their families took part in the 2025 Runway 5K at Gerald R. Ford International Airport and we had an absolute blast! The energy was high, the weather was perfect, and the community spirit was even better.

A heartfelt thank you to Gerald R. Ford International Airport, a long-time partner of ours, for hosting such a well-organized and inspiring event. We’re proud to work with clients who are deeply committed to supporting meaningful causes like Paws With A Cause and making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

✈️ GRR Runway 5K – Club Recap

The runway was fast and the club competition was fierce, with 133 participants representing 32 clubs!

🥇 The Christman Company soared to the top with 119 points, thanks to 28 participants in the 5K and Fun Run and strong placements—Dorothy and Jane Vander Velde both won their age groups!
🥈 Roger Dodgers claimed second with 44 points from just four runners! Roger Manning won his AG, and Carolyn Manning took second in hers.
🥉 I’ve Got the Runs landed third with 32 points, with Ashley Kooienga (3rd AG) and Scott Huntington (5th AG) leading the charge.

👏 A special shoutout to Avery, Adrion, and Eleanor of West Michigan Aviation Academy for earning 15 points through volunteering! WMU Aviation

And with those results, Christman (500 pts) and Roger Dodgers (450 pts) have officially cracked the Top 10 on the 2025 Overall Club Leaderboard! 💥

Next stop: Summer Trail Fest Ultra and Half Marathon on June 14. Trails, hills, and another chance to shake up the standings—let’s go!
