It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our dedicated Polish American community member and former PHS Busia Queen, Lucy Maciejewski Preston.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and dedicated community member, Lucy Maciejewski Preston.

Lucy was a vibrant and cherished part of the Polish Heritage Society, and she served our community with incredible passion as our Busia Queen during her reign in 2023. She generously committed herself to the restoration of the Jackson Street Hall, which was just one of many acts of kindness she offered throughout her life in the community; to be around her warm spirit was truly a beautiful place to be. She famously said that "being Busia Queen means being everyone's Busia," and she lived out those words through her kindness and dedication to our society.

We are holding her entire family close in our hearts during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The Pulaski Days community is more than an event — it is a family built through years of friendship, tradition, and showing up for one another. Today, we stand together with heavy hearts as we lift up our dear friend and fellow PHS member, Lucy Preston, who is currently in critical care following a tragic event at her home.

We ask our Pulaski Days family to join us in surrounding them with love, strength, and support in the days ahead. We are sending our deepest support and warmest wishes for comfort, healing, and recovery. ❤️

Meeting Update 📅

The May Pulaski Board Public Meeting is being moved to Thursday, June 4th at 7:30pm at Knights of Columbus / West Leonard Banquet Facility (1140 Muskegon Ave NW, Grand Rapids). The June meeting will remain as scheduled for June 25th.

We’re proud to announce our 2025 Pulaski Court Member, Maureen Lynch, graduated from Aquinas College one week ago today with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Health Science! 👩‍🎓 🎓 Maureen balanced her academics while maintaining her involvement in Pulaski Days, which is no easy feat.
