3rd Annual Skijor Event. Located at Winding River Ranch in Grand Lake, CO. Come join us January 29-31, 2027

10/09/2026

Grand Lake Skijoring is powered by more than fast horses and fearless skiers — it takes a whole crew to build the course, set the jumps, move snow, and bring race weekend to life.

Want to be part of the action? Volunteer with us! No skijoring experience required — just a willingness to jump in and help make the magic happen.

SKIJORING 101 🏇⛷️❄️
So… what exactly is skijoring?

Think horse racing meets skiing.

A horse and rider race down a snow-packed course while pulling a skier behind them at high speed. Along the way, the skier navigates jumps, gates and other obstacles — all while trying to stay upright and hang onto the rope.

It takes speed, teamwork, balance and a little bit of bravery from everyone involved.

Horse. Rider. Skier.
Three athletes. One run. 🤝

And once you see it in person, you’ll understand why we spend all year waiting for winter.

Welcome to Skijoring 101 — we’ll be breaking down the sport all month long.
