Who is the seed industry really innovating for?
Farmers from Idaho, New Jersey, Missouri and Saskatchewan all weighed in during a recent grower panel at the Bayer U.S. Crop Science ICS meeting in St. Louis.
Their answers weren't about chasing the newest technology. They talked about uncertainty, labor shortages, consumer trust, profitability and one issue that surfaced again and again: whether there's a next generation willing and able to come back to the farm.
The seed industry has more tools than ever before. But growers reminded us that innovation only matters when it solves real problems.
