Well I don't like writing this post but I need to. I won't be able to enter the State Fair of Texas anymore and I'm sad about it. I know some of ya'll went to the fair every year and looked for my name, took pictures and sent them to me. I loved that!! I packed up my jars and mailed them to the fair. This is the first time I have ever mailed them and it cost me about $90. I have talked to a lady there for 15 years and she called me to tell me I can't enter anymore because I'm considered a professional now and not a amateur because I sell my pickled products in stores. I am still sad about it. It was a challenge and so exciting to see if I could win another ribbon. I have won every year since 2009 totaling 56 ribbons!! I even started hanging the frames on the ceiling because I ran out of room on the walls. If I find any other contest in this area I will enter again. A lot of people have asked me to make a chow chow and I finally did. It has every vegetable you can think of chopped up. I made it many years ago and Rick kept saying "that's not chow chow"! Entered it in the fair and won a ribbon !! Guess I showed him haha!! It's Cindy's version of chow chow and sooo good on a hot dog, in beans, and on crackers and cheese. It was one of my entries this year. A lot of people drink my juice because it's very healthy and I have cancer patients that drink it because they crave the salt. Another really good product of mine is the pickled onions! OMG!! They are crunchy sweet onions. People would come up to my booth at the Texas Country Reporter Festival and say "I don't like onions", I talked them into tasting them and wow -- they bought a jar! I've heard that people cook with them and grill them. Try a jar!!! If you put my pickles in a tuna or chicken sandwich, deviled eggs, potato salad you won't believe how my pickles change the flavor. Also, if ya'll didn't see the article in Hood County News about Ronny Dunn of Brooks and Dunn (Boot Scootin Boogie!!!) ordering a case of my okra please read it! I even have a picture of him and his wife holding a jar of my okra. Now that was exciting!!! I'm still The Pickle Lady/Queen on to bigger things I hope??!!!
