After months of careful observation of the current state of affairs, we must regrettably postpone the Gowanda Film Festival indefinitely. While sad, I cannot in good conscience perpetuate such a gathering in these trying times. This is especially unfortunate due to the amount of exciting submissions we received from a diverse community of filmmakers. Something I love about the community of film is that it grows in diversity and accessibility all the time. It’s especially important to promote a wide array of artists from varied backgrounds in times like this. We need to remember to take everyone’s perspectives into account, and for the Gowanda Film Festival to be the kind of event to do so was a wildly fulfilling idea. It’s one that I hope to carry into the next festival, whenever that may be.
I will be working with the filmmakers who submitted works to ensure that their films are properly returned and that full refunds are issued. I truly appreciate the interest of all involved and I hope to work with everyone in the future. Stay healthy, remember to love one another, and thank you for your cooperation.
