MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! Lexi's Quilting Day Camp quilts were shown at the Cotton Pickin' Quilt Show! What a colorful, beautiful display!!! What an accomplishment for the 20 special young ladies!!!

Jara posted pictures of the quilts. As you view the pictures please take note of the leaders who stepped forward to help the campers. Without them working with these girls we couldn't have made this happen. I cannot thank them enough. If you know any of these ladies please offer your thanks too.

I want to thank a few of the helpers who went above and beyond: Front Porch Quilts in Benjamin, Pam Duke and Sonja Caldwell, Lorrie Coop, Carla Key, Amy Sigala, and especially my co-heart in all this, Vickie Huffman.

Seeing the girls with their quilts and the pride they had was the best!!! Lexi's Legacy lives on!!!

The Cotton Pickin' Quilt Show is fast approaching. The big day is Feb. 27 at the the Goree School. All the quilts from the Camp will be on display. All campers and leaders are asked to meet at the Lexi display at 2:00. After a brief program campers will be able to take their quilts home to snuggle with. If you have a Live Life Like Lexi t-shirt, please wear it. The show is from 9:00-3:00. There will be lots of quilts, various vendors, a food program by Lorrie Coop and a meal from 11:30 until 1:00.

Come enjoy the Cotton Pickin' Quilt show, spend the day and encourage this new generation of quilters.

What a day!!! Having no electricity gave us a slow start but we once we got started there was no stopping us. I can't say enough about the campers. They were eager to learn how to operate a sewing machine, most for their very first time. Their smiles were priceless as the saw their quilt coming together! They were beaming as they proudly showed their finished tops. Thank you campers for such a fun day!!! This camp could not have happened without all the gracious quilters who accepted the challenge to teach a new generation the love of quilting. Ladies, you all are so very special and I can't thank you enough for your help and the use of your machines. We also had volunteers who kept us fed and were out an about helping with whatever was needed. Also, thanks to all those I asked for advice to make this camp happen. Your ideas, suggestion and knowledge was very welcomed. And yes, my eyes are leaking as I write this and think about what a wonderful day this was. I don't think it could have been any better!!! Well, except the no power part! lol

Lexi’s Quilting Day Camp

As most of you know, Lexi Collins had a great love for quilting. There have been many donations made in her honor that allow other young girls the opportunity to learn about quilting. With these funds, we can host Lexi’s Quilting Day Camp. Each camper will complete a large throw that will be displayed at the Cotton Pickin’ Quilt Show in February as a special tribute to both Lexi and their newly learned skills. Each camper will be paired with a volunteer quilting instructor. This one-day camp is open for any girl in Knox County ages 9 and above. The tentative date is June 23rd(subject to change due to COVID-19). The camp will be hosted at the Goree school cafeteria from 9:00-4:00. Lunch, snacks, and all supplies will be provided for each camper. The number of campers is limited; therefore, we are requiring a $20 non-refundable fee to hold each campers spot. Openings will be filled as registration fees and forms are received. Last day for registration is June 8th. Please come and join us for a day of learning a new skill, lots of laughter, and fun.
