From Paris, France to Graham Tx- Artist Ann James Massey ‘s “The BLESSING of THE ANIMALS” will be on exhibit at the 7th Annual National "Art at the OPOMAC 2018" www.opomac.net
Friday June 22, 2018 7:00pm, Reception and Awards Ceremony
Old Post Office Museum and Art Center, 510 Third St., Graham, TX 76450. I’m looking forward to seeing this beautiful work— Ann works on mahogany boards and grinds her own paints, using powdered pigments and Maroger black oil. The first layer on the prepared board is a thin toned wash, the second a burnt umber value rendition of the image, then four or more layers of color, with final layers of glazing and scumbling. Between each layer is hand-made Flemish medium. The thin glazing process allows each successive layer to affect the prior layers, somewhat akin to lining up numerous panes of glass, with the light bouncing back from each one. This Old Master's painting method, which can take up to eight months to complete a piece ( for more of her work see her website : Ann James Massey)
