The Festival, Formerly Known As “Beak Week”

The North Carolina Poultry Festival is an all-inclusive, poultry festival that celebrates the deep, ‘feathered’ roots of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Formerly known as “Beak Week”, this festival is a community event in Historic Downtown Goldsboro that takes place annually on the second Saturday in September. The festival specializes in recognizing our Goldsboro heritage and community by showcasing local artisans, vendors, and of course, all the chicken and turkey you can eat! The mission of the NC Poultry Festival is to create a community driven festival celebrating diversity through our heritage, arts, crafts, culture, and of course, poultry. It is a great source of local pride, with the entire community involved in celebrating Goldsboro and highlighting our poultry heritage. The festival encourages volunteerism and civic participation as this helps keep our growing festival free to everyone, as well as promotes the unique qualities of Downtown Goldsboro.

While the festival takes place on Saturday, the entire week leading up to it is jam packed with poultry-themed events such as the Beak Week Beer Run, Chicken Chase, Fowl Play Softball Game, Turkey Trivia, and the Food ‘Cluck’ Rodeo!

In 2017, the Arts Council hatched the idea to add a “Peep Show” to the Festival! Don’t fret; it’s not your average “Peep Show”, it’s an art gallery of marshmallow PEEPs! Still don’t believe us? Check them out here!
