We've had a busy few weeks here at Central Square! One of our recent events was the Glenwood High School Class of 1961's 65th Reunion on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026.

During the festivities, the Laker Alumni reconnected by sharing a meal, photographs and memories of their school days. The reunion also included a tour of Central Square and its recent $3.9 million restoration project, led by Executive Director Marie Chan.

Congratulations to the Class of 1961 on 65 years! We were so glad to have you back in the historic and hallowed hallways of GHS.

Walk the Line, Ring of fire (there was a trumpet!), Folsom Prison Bues, Orange Blossom Special, Big River, are just a few of the songs we will be humming for the next few days.

Thank you to Mitchell Hall and the Tennessee Trio for returning to Central Square and entertaining us with songs we love, storytelling that complimented the music, and an even a Q & A with Mitchell during intermission! It was a special night for all who attended.

Our staff had an unplanned field trip today! David Lent, one of our team members—and our resident climbing expert—discovered a stranded snapping turtle in one of our window wells.

The rest of the team quickly gave her some water while David went home to retrieve thick gloves and a transport bin. David jumped into the window well and rescued her and together we returned her to a more turtle-friendly environment.

She seemed a little sluggish, and we aren’t sure how long she had been trapped, but we hope the rest of her day will be much better than the way it started! 🐢

The countdown is on for the third show in Central Square’s 2026 Concert Series!

On Saturday, September 12th at 7PM, Mitchell Hall will bring young Johnny Cash back to the stage with a spot-on performance, while The Tennessee Trio brings that iconic “boom-chick-a-boom” sound the original band was known for. Together, they deliver one of the most authentic tributes to Johnny Cash’s legendary legacy that we have seen.

This audience favorite is returning to Central Square by popular demand. Join us for a great night of music, memories, and storytelling!

Congratulations to the Glenwood High School Class of 1986 who celebrated their 40th Reunion at Central Square on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026!

They are officially the first class to hold their reunion since the completion of Central Square's three-year, $3.9 million restoration project. Their reunion organizer, Nancy (Holtberg) McShane, set the bar high for all future reunions!

A few former GHS teachers and faculty members were honored guests at the reunion, including Sandra Redman, Jim Lepper and Don Swenson.

Central Square would like to thank the Class of 1986 for the generous donation they raised for Central Square through their 50/50 drawing.

It was great to have the Class of 1986 back in these hallowed and historic hallways. We hope everyone had a great time!
