After 4 years of hosting the Rajin’ Cajun 5k & Fun Run in Glennville, Georgia as our foundation’s primary fundraiser, we have decided to redirect our creative efforts to focus on bringing the same fun and energy into the elementary schools of Tattnall County. Later this spring, every student in Glennville Elementary, Reidsville Elementary, and Collins Elementary will experience the excitement of a brand new fundraiser at their school called the “WARRIOR WALK” to raise money for the S.T.R.O.NG. Warriors initiative. With our new focus on providing the students opportunities to participate, we will no longer host the Rajin’ Cajun 5k & Fun Run.
What a FUN 4 years it has been and the members of the Jeff Armstrong Memorial Foundation want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our sponsors, donors, participants, and volunteers. It took a village to put on an entertaining event and seeing all of your smiling faces warmed our hearts on those cold February days. The memories will always hold a very special place in our lives, BUT….
As a community who rallies behind great causes, our work is not over. Last year alone, YOU helped us donate a total of $12,000 to our local elementary schools! Here is how that money has been used across the county to impact young lives:
*Warriors Essential Cart: This cart contains hygiene products students can get if in need; like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.
*Set of families in which we bought some clothing and a turkey for during Thanksgiving.
*Purchased coats, shoes, and blankets for our students in need to help them make it through the winter months.
*Bereavement of 2 students who lost their father to COVID; food, staple items, etc.
*Bookbag and clothes for a student who was in dire need
*Clothes from Wal-Mart to have on hand for winter
*Pizza lunch for “at-risk” kids
*Partial fund for FALL FUN DAY for school since the annual festival had to be canceled due to COVID
*Purchased a book for each student ordered from Scholastic Book Club for Christmas
*Purchased clothing, toiletry items, and toys for our students.
*Provided 32 of our students, who have needs, items for Christmas. The students were so thrilled to get these items!
Read what the principals have to say to all of you for sponsoring and donating:
“Thank you again for all you have done for our students...blessed beyond measures at GES!!”
“Please know, we at RES are very appreciative of your support!”
“I want to give a sincere thank you for the generous donation to the students of Collins Elementary. The entire faculty and staff were excited and very humbled by commitment that the foundation has given our kids at CES. Please know that the money will go toward serving our kids and providing necessary items that they need to advance physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. The kindness of the foundation will NOT go unnoticed. “
Tattnall County, we have work still to be done, and we cannot do it without you. Please stay connected to our pages on updates for how you can help support students for this year’s “WARRIOR WALK”. Again, our foundation wants to THANK YOU for your generosity to give back into the lives of our local students.
