It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since we lost my father, Wolfgang. His absence is felt every single day—in family moments, in quiet reflection, and in the spaces he once filled with laughter, wisdom, and unwavering dedication. Wolfgang was more than our father and friend—he was the heart and soul of our family and the driving force behind Glendale Heights Oktoberfest. Through his vision, passion, and tireless work, he brought a cherished piece of German heritage to our community, leaving a mark that will be felt for generations to come.
Keeping his Oktoberfest legacy alive has not always been easy. We’ve faced countless obstacles and more than a few heartbreaks along the way. Yet, we find strength each year in the memories Wolfgang left us and the tradition he built from the ground up. Every toast, every polka, every moment of joy under the big tent speaks to his enduring spirit and the love he poured into this event.
None of this would be possible without the support and steadfast courage of our matriarch, Elfriede. Amidst the storms of rumor and misinformation, she has stood as a beacon of unconditional support and integrity, refusing to bend to those who would tarnish our work or my father’s good name. Her resilience reminds us that the legacy Wolfgang began is worth every challenge we’ve overcome, and every celebration yet to come.
As we gather once more in celebration, we carry Wolfgang’s spirit with us—lifting a stein, sharing a story, and welcoming friends old and new. We honor his memory not only by what we’ve built, but by holding fast to truth, community, and the love he gave so freely. With every song and every smile, his legacy lives on.
