The first glimpse of something long gone, but not forgotten.
We recently came across this image of the original Sycamore Grove Motor Court (the station is just out of frame on the left side of the image). A row of modest cabins, a hand-painted sign, and a promise: “modern cabins with kitchenettes.” At the time, this wasn’t nostalgia, it was progress. A place built for travelers chasing the open road.
There’s something grounding about seeing it as it was. Before stories layered over stories.
This is the earliest image we’ve found of the motor court, and it changes everything. It reminds us that what we’re building isn’t new. It’s a continuation.
Same land. Same spirit.
A new chapter taking shape.
