The first glimpse of something long gone, but not forgotten.

We recently came across this image of the original Sycamore Grove Motor Court (the station is just out of frame on the left side of the image). A row of modest cabins, a hand-painted sign, and a promise: “modern cabins with kitchenettes.” At the time, this wasn’t nostalgia, it was progress. A place built for travelers chasing the open road.

There’s something grounding about seeing it as it was. Before stories layered over stories.

This is the earliest image we’ve found of the motor court, and it changes everything. It reminds us that what we’re building isn’t new. It’s a continuation.

Same land. Same spirit.
A new chapter taking shape.

We somehow didn’t take a single photo all night. If you snapped any pics, drop them in the comments—we’d love to see!

Spring has a way of bringing old places back to life.

Out here at the station, the bluebonnets don’t just bloom, they return, year after year, like they remember every story held within these walls. Wild and unbothered, they spread across the property, softening the edges of time and ruin with color.

Moonshine ran out the back, the kind that never saw a label. Cards hit the table hard. Music and laughter slipped through the cracks while the law stayed one step behind. What happened here stayed here, pressed into the petrified wood, the limestone, the iron-rich brick. A hundred years later, the stories are still hanging in the air. Pull up a chair.

If only these walls could talk. They’d whisper of outlaws dancing under the stars, bootleggers slipping out the back with moonshine in hand, and nights when the station doubled as a speakeasy. Quiet on the surface, alive after dark. Layers of wear and repair still hold those stories.

Letting the past guide the future. Same walls. New chapter.

A century ago, Outlaw Station stood as a refuge; a place where wanderers stopped for the night, seeking rest and a bit of rebellion on the open road. Today, Sycamore Grove revives that same spirit: a sanctuary for the modern traveler to escape the rush and remember what it means to feel alive.
