Lightmare Before Christmas

Well, folks… it’s that time of year when we should be untangling 3,000 feet of lights, climbing ladders at questionable angles, and battling rogue inflatables. But instead—Brian’s knees have decided they want a holiday too. 😬

After last year’s spinal surgery sidelined the show, this year he’s going for the sequel: double knee replacement. That’s right—Lightmare: The Orthopedic Saga Continues. So unfortunately, no light show this season.

We’re disappointed (and a bit bummed we can’t blame a snowstorm or mischievous elves), but we’re hopeful to be back next year with more sparkle, more spirit, and Brian fully restored to factory settings.

Breaking News: Lightmare Before Christmas on Hiatus

Hey Spooky Fans,

We’ve got some frightfully unfortunate news: Lightmare Before Christmas will be taking a break this Halloween and Christmas. Why, you ask? Well, our very own Brian is going under the knife for some major surgery this fall. He’ll be out of commission for a while, and unfortunately, that means no dazzling light shows this year.

And in the spirit of Friday the 13th, let’s call it a “Lightmare on Our Street” with Freddy Krueger himself doing the surgery! 🩸🔪

Hello Lightmare followers, it's Brian! Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for all the kind words and condolences you've shared. We've encountered a few setbacks with hardware and have had to be out of town frequently. Despite these challenges, we managed to add 1000 new lights to the Xmas display.

I can't bear the thought of a Black front yard on this Friday's eve, so I've decided to run two songs tonight (and maybe a couple more nights). Consider it my way of letting you all know, "I'm Good," and that this is "The Greatest Show." The exact showtime tonight is a bit uncertain as I'll be working right up until then. Your continued support means the world to me!

Christmas may be a little late this year.

Brian lost his stepdad Jim Smoody this morning. Decorating will be on hold while we deal with this loss. Jim always loved the show, and we know he would want the show to go on. We do plan to get the Christmas show up and running. It may just be a little later than normal this year. Looking down, Jim will have a really great view of the show this year.

We feel the same way. We enjoy the creative and fun costumes the teenagers are doing. Halloween has become an holiday for all ages. We had trick or treater’s from infants to grand parents, and everything in between last night. See you all next year.

CHANGE IN PLANS

Due to the mildly unpleasant weather we are having. We will be handing out Treats from inside our garage. This means that the garage door will be open until 7:30pm and the garage door part of the show will not be visible during that time. We'll close it up right after Trick or Treat and it will be part of the show for the remainder of the evening.

Halloween Show is almost over. We will be running from dusk to 10pm on Monday, October 30th (Halloween Eve).

Our last night will be Halloween. We will run from 5:30pm to 11pm. The road in front of the house will be blocked from 5pm to 8pm for Trick or Treat. You can park nearby and walk on in to enjoy the show.

We start tearing down Halloween and putting up Christmas on November first. Hope everyone has a great Halloween and see you all for the Christmas Show.

Popcorn and a Show!

On Friday, the 13th - starting around 8pm the Scouts of Pack 271 will be selling Popcorn at the Lightmare.

With this fundraiser the pack is typically able to cover the cost of rechartering the unit, activities throughout the year, and expenses on behalf of each Scout.

They will also accept monetary military donations. With these donations the pack purchases popcorn to give to a local soldier, who then delivers the popcorn directly to a local military base.

Pre-popped options they have that can be enjoyed right away are:
Classic Caramel Corn, Cheddar Cheese, Kettle Corn, Jalapeño Cheddar, Caramel with Sea Salt, and the Ultimate Cheese Lovers Combo.

Options that can be brought home to be made and enjoyed are:
Yellow Popping Corn, Butter Microwave, Kettle Microwave
