Packet pickup and onsite registration will be Friday, November 1, 2019, 5pm-8pm at Quality Inn Georgetown, 210 Church Street (aka Highway 17S), and Saturday, November 2, 2019, 6am-7am at Strand Theater, 710 Front Street. Our main events are a Half Marathon Run, 12K Run, 5K Run/Walk and a Kids Fun Run (12 and under) sponsored by the YMCA. Course Description:
The Half Marathon route will start and f

inish in the hub of the city on Front Street in Historic Downtown Georgetown. After running past the downtown’s eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and historic landmarks, including the famous Clock Tower at the Rice Museum, the course quickly transitions into the East Bay Park area where runners will be greeted by lovely views of Winyah Bay. As you circle the park, off in the distance you will get your first glimpse of one of the notable features of the 13.1M and 12K courses; the two bridges that cross the Black and Waccamaw Rivers. Upon leaving East Bay Park the course passes through a residential area showcasing Georgetown’s signature tree-lined streets and beautiful Lowcountry architecture. The route proceeds onto US Highway 17 where the next immediate focus will be to cross Georgetown’s gateway bridges. This early morning race will surely provide amazing panoramic sunrise views of Winyah Bay, with Hobcaw Barony creating a splendid natural background. After the turn-around you will cross the bridges again and head straight back towards the Historic District of Georgetown. The race will follow Prince St., a corridor of majestic trees, historic homes, churches, museums, and significant cultural landmarks. Here, runners will experience vintage Georgetown as they begin the second half of the race. The course then reconnects with Highway 17 and heads towards the southern end of Georgetown. Perhaps the most challenging portion of the course awaits runners at the 3rd bridge over the Sampit River into the Maryville district of the City. Although the majority of the race course is flat, this stretch will test runners “uphill” racing abilities. While in Maryville, runners will traverse through some other residential neighborhoods of Georgetown, which provide additional views of Winyah Bay. Once you ascend the Sampit River Bridge, it is a short distance back to downtown Georgetown and to the finish line on historic Front Street. The finish line area is located in the heart of beautiful Georgetown, so grab some water, stretch out, walk around the attractive Harbor Walk and celebrate your accomplishments the rest of the day in our fantastic city. Our entire community welcomes you to join us at the Historic Georgetown Bridge2Bridge race. Typical Weather in mid November:
The weather conditions in the Georgetown area during the late summer/ early fall season are generally quite comfortable. The historic average low temperature in November is 46F and the average high is 70F. The monthly average rainfall for November is 3.27 inches.
