A fall afternoon across the water.

On Saturday, October 24, set out from The George for a journey to Hobcaw Barony, where Lowcountry history, nature and time on the water come together.

Spanning 16,000 acres between the Waccamaw River and Atlantic Ocean, Hobcaw Barony holds centuries of Lowcountry history, now preserved for conservation, research and education.

The afternoon begins with bubbles on the water before a guided tour of historic Hobcaw House, followed by the return trip to The George and a complimentary drink at Eliza’s.

Last night, The Independent at The George had the pleasure of joining the Pawleys Island W**e & Food Gala, serving 400 of our “charcuterie bite in one” creations alongside chefs, w**eries and purveyors from across the region.

The annual gala brings together food and w**e in celebration of the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art, marking the beginning of a season dedicated to music, art and community.

We’re grateful to have been part of the evening and to share a little taste of The Independent Georgetown beyond Georgetown. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, and to the team behind the gala for having us.
