It took us 6 long years to get here, but yesterday we finally successfully hosted our first large wedding in our formal garden with 200 guests. That was 6 years of hard work, including:

1. Rebuilding the masonry around the grounds and the gardens.

2. Renovating the house and creating 4 Bed & Breakfast units.

3. Adding event center His and Hers handicap-accessible bathrooms.

4. Wiring the formal garden with lighting and electrical outlets.

5. Building a path between the Formal Garden and the rest rooms.

6. All the while, trying to win the annual battle with Mother Nature to keep the grounds from going wild and a 187-year-old house from falling down!

It was a lot of work and a lot of money, but yesterday it all came together without a hitch.

Hartford House Weddings is pleased to announce that we have added three additional B & B rooms. With our 4 units, we can now sleep up to a dozen members of your wedding party and with the Alice Hay Room we have the ultimate Bridal Suite overlooked by cherubs!

Fall work continues with the placement of grass sod in our Walled Garden. We are creating space for additional seating so we can host wedding ceremonies for up to 150 people in the Garden.

The marriage of Alice Wadsworth and Trowbridge Strong on June 10, 1948. Alice and Toby were married in the Formal Garden at Hartford House, now available for wedding receptions.
