Hartford House Weddings & Events

Hartford House Weddings & Events Hartford House weddings have been a Wadsworth family tradition for over 150 years. Start your own tradition, now accepting bookings for 2018 and beyond!

The Hartford House was built by Civil War General James S. Wadsworth on the north end of Main Street in the Village of Geneseo in 1835 and has been inhabited by his descendants ever since. The inside of the 13,000 square-foot National Historic Landmark home is currently not available for large events but the 70-acre park-like grounds are. The west side of the home and the Formal Garden of the estate provide a beautiful vista over the Genesee Valley.

It took us 6 long years to get here, but yesterday we finally successfully hosted our first large wedding in our formal garden with 200 guests. That was 6 years of hard work, including:

1. Rebuilding the masonry around the grounds and the gardens.

2. Renovating the house and creating 4 Bed & Breakfast units.

3. Adding event center His and Hers handicap-accessible bathrooms.

4. Wiring the formal garden with lighting and electrical outlets.

5. Building a path between the Formal Garden and the rest rooms.

6. All the while, trying to win the annual battle with Mother Nature to keep the grounds from going wild and a 187-year-old house from falling down!

It was a lot of work and a lot of money, but yesterday it all came together without a hitch.
Congratulations to Tom and Erin Clark!
