The DIVAS Half Marathon & 5K are returning to the island this weekend, Sunday, April 26th. The events will begin and end at Beach Central Park (2102 Seawall) The half marathon will begin at 7 a.m., and the 5K walk will begin at 7:15 a.m. The events are expected to conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The DIVAS Half Marathon & 5K are returning to the island this weekend, Sunday, April 26th. The events will begin and end at Beach Central Park (2102 Seawall) The half marathon will begin at 7 a.m., and the 5K walk will begin at 7:15 a.m. The events are expected to conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m.
• The Galveston Police Department and the Traffic Department will be assisting with temporary lanes and street closures where required along the route.
• Seawall Blvd. Will be closed to traffic at 19th and 23rd Streets, allowing participants to safely cross the street and to accommodate the number of participants expected. Detours will be posted.
• The southernmost eastbound traffic lane and the parking lane from 14th Street to the West End of the island will be coned for the runs.
• Vehicular traffic moving eastbound will be restricted to one lane in that area beginning at approximately 5 a.m. As the final participant passes the traffic division will begin reopening the parking and eastbound lane.

The traffic division will begin reopening the second lane after the final Half Marathon participant passes by, to allow for participants to safely cross the street and to accommodate the number of participants anticipated, Seawall Blvd will be closed to traffic at 19th and 23rd Streets. Traffic will be detoured along Avenue O1/2 because of a Seawall closure between 19th and 23rd streets.
