The Groundhogs are a jazz quintet made up of students from Hempstead High School including Addilyn, Joseph, Conor, Hadley, and Keegan. We're so happy that Rey Tang will be our emcee! And she'll perform a thirty-minute stand-up set about her experiences as a q***r Asian-American woman, sharing stories about her family, her coming out, and observations as a q***r person in 2026.

Rey Tang (she/they) is a Chicago-based writer, performer, and filmmaker, recently written up by the Chicago Reader. She performed stand-up in the 2024 SNL Showcase at the Annoyance Theater and sketch as part of Right Wrong Radio Hour, a very funny comedy show podcast. She's also performed in venues such as Laugh Factory, Zanies, and Hollywood Improv and toured in 2025 with the Here to P*e: A Trans Protest Tour. You can catch Rey at her q***r monthly stand-up showcase in Chicago with Lavender Laugh Lounge, every first Saturday at Loaves n Witches.
