Bassist Dan Martinez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He showed interest in music at an early age and played professionally by the age of 17 in rock, pop and salsa, jazz, fusion and folklore genres. He studied at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and pursued his Master degree in Jazz Performance in New York. Because of his knowledge of different music styles, he has been involved in a variety of projects with artists and groups, including David Sanchez, Alex Sipiagin, Al Jarreau, Cheo Pardo, Randy Brecker, Ruben Blades, Slavo Rican Assembly, Chicha Libre, La Mecanica Popular, Play_Ground, and many more.
Dan joins Jack Gruber (keys) and Ruben Coca (drums) at the Arts Barn Saturday, June 6th. This dynamic trio will fuse jazz, pop and game music into an exciting evening - don't miss it!
