Big congratulations are in order for Peach State Fire's own, fearless leader, Vicki Whitmire!

The week at the NAFED national conference, Vicki was recognized for completing her 3-year term on the NAFED Board of Directors - a testament to her tireless commitment to the fire protection industry at the highest levels.

Vicki's impact reaches far beyond our local communities. As an active leader in both state and national fire safety organizations, she has helped shape the policies, standards, and practices that define how fire protection professionals operate across the entire country. Her voice at the national table has made a real difference - not just for our industry, but for every community that depends on it to stay safe.

That same commitment to excellence is woven into everything we do at Peach State Fire. From the heart of middle and north Georgia to our neighboring communities across the South, our team shows up every day with one goal - delivering the highest level of fire safety to the homes, businesses, and people who count on us.

We are so proud of Vicki and grateful for the standard she sets - for our team, for our communities, and for fire protection professionals nationwide.

Thank you, Vicki, for making a difference every single day.

Our hearts are heavy as we continue to watch the devastating wildfires burning across South Georgia. We are lifting up every family who has been impacted and those who have lost homes. We are especially grateful for the firefighters, emergency personnel, and volunteers who are risking everything to protect our communities.

As shared by Georgia officials, these fires are being fueled by dry conditions and wind, and even small actions can spark new fires. Authorities are urging everyone to:
- Avoid any outdoor burning due to statewide burn bans
- Never discard ci******es or flammable materials on the ground
- Stay clear of active fire areas and follow all evacuation guidance
- Be prepared for changing conditions and potential evacuations

Please continue to keep South Georgia in your thoughts and prayers. If you're in or near affected areas, stay alert, follow guidance from local officials, and check on your neighbors.

Together, we stand with our Georgia communities.

Georgia crews responded to 31 new wildfires Thursday as two major fires continue burning thousands of acres amid ongoing drought conditions statewide.

In a devastating event yesterday afternoon, the historic Floyd County Courthouse in downtown Rome, GA, which dates back to the late 1800's, caught fire yesterday. We are so grateful to hear that no one was injured and all the people working at the time got out safely.

We also want to give a huge shout out to the fearless men and women of the Rome-Floyd Fire Division for arriving so quickly to the scene and getting the fire put out!

A historic Georgia landmark was destroyed on Monday afternoon after a massive fire gutted the 134-year-old Floyd County Courthouse in Government Plaza.
