We wanted to give you all an update in regards to the 2023 U.S. Canine Biathlon. Usually, we hold it in May of each year; however, this year we are postponing the race to a later date. This will allow us the time that we need to plan the event due to our move from the former Anniston site, as well as various team member changes. We remain excited for the future of this event and our goal is to provide the best possible experience for participants of all ages. We would like to thank our sponsors for their patience, and each of you for your ongoing interest and support!

Friends of the U.S. Canine Biathlon,

Some of you may also be members of the “U.S. Canine Biathlon Group” page that identifies itself as a “Fan Group.” It also states that the group page is “approved by U.S. Canine Biathlon Officials.” We have recently discovered that one of its Admins (and other group members) have been posting blatantly anti-police comments on social media as well as actively disparaging the Biathlon, Project K-9 Hero, and our Race Director, Jason Johnson, presumably because of the strong affiliations with the Law Enforcement Community.

These individuals continue to post false information concerning our staff and charity, as well as become verbally abusive when conversing with our team. We are a group that prides itself on being all-inclusive, and we will not be affiliated with any person or group that disparages others. We respect that there are lots of opinions and honestly we want and encourage the feedback. What cannot occur is verbal abuse of others and a complete disregard for facts. We won’t allow ourselves to be willfully slandered.

Therefore, we no longer approve of this group as a Fan Group page and we would encourage you all to follow our official page at https://www.facebook.com/caninebiathlon instead. We will continue to post official updates, event news, and all around positive vibes!

We deeply appreciate all of you and your support. We will continue to work hard to make the U.S. Canine Biathlon the best it can be.

I would like to take a moment to recognize this wonderful team for all of their hard work in keeping the U.S. Canine Biathlon alive. Without each of you there would have been no event this year or potentially ever again! Your dedication to its success, for the almost 1000 registered competitors, is inspiring! Thank you All very much!

Respectfully,

Jason Johnson

Looking at the weather this morning it appears it may hold off through noon. Therefore, we are going to attempt to start all competitors beginning at 0930 to get them out on the course and completed before any storms hit. We will be sending teams out continually in 30 second to one minute intervals until all registered racers are out.

So if you are running this morning, please show up well before your time and we will do the best we can to make sure everyone has a safe and fun run before Mother Nature strikes!

Please share this message with everyone you know who is slated to run today.

Respectfully,

Jason Johnson
Race Director

Day one of the 2022 U.S. Canine Biathlon is in the books, and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone who helped make this event happen! The staff, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers. Thank you so much for making today a huge success.

As the Race Director, I had dozens of very appreciative competitors, from across the nation, come up to me and thank Project K-9 Hero for stepping up and seeing that this race continued. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of many. A total team effort!!!

We can’t wait for Sunday Funday, and I want to personally thank each and every one of you who provided positive comments today to our staff. Who was simply trying to do the best they could, given the circumstances we were given! Thank you so much!

Respectfully,

Jason Johnson
Race Director
