We want to say THANK YOU to the community for coming and supporting our program yesterday at the Soup Dinner! It was a success and all the money raised goes towards continuing this program year after year!
Benefits of having a royalty program in our community:
đź’™Getting the younger generation active in community involvement.
đź’™Building confidence both personally and with public speaking.
Last night, we watched and people commented on the younger kids running the snow cone machine. They were asking people for a snow cone, coming up with flavors and being independent. That’s our future - learning to engage with the public, be a part of a group and working together. (Not on tablets) Now, were there messes, did I have to kinda threaten them that if they didn’t stop goofing off they would be “fired” yes - but that’s also learning. There are boundaries and expectations when working for others! These kids are learning valuable skills! Thank you all for seeing this as well and supporting us!
Lastly, I hope as they grow and enter adulthood and have their own kids, they bring them back to Bakersville and share stories and feel welcome to help out at the homecoming as well! What would also be awesome, to have this program last so long that their own children come and run for a title as well! -Long term goal but a great goal to have!
