WOW... what a Saturday

We are overwhelmed by the support and stewardship of this event. Thank you so much for making our 6th one so very special.

Tower Porchfest is made from the hands and hearts of so many people. Remember to thank those you know who were involved in making it happen, especially the hosts and performers. There are vendors, sound professionals, volunteers, sponsors and so many more roles needed to make this experience successful.

Keep your eyes peeled for some fun and informative posts in the next coming days!!

When it comes to keeping things local in South Tower, you have to mention Kiel Lopez-Schmidt.

Executive director of the South Tower Community Land Trust, Kiel has done amazing things in the South Tower Area.

Check out our latest shoutout video where he explains ome of the new and exciting things STCLT has been working on. One of which is a new community owned office space.

He’s also hosting TWO PORCHES.

Stop by one or both tommorow and learn the benefits of preserving affordability within our community.

Heads up, neighbors!

If you’re heading to Tower Porchfest tomorrow, please note that some streets in the area will have temporary road closures from 7AM–NOON due to the California Classic Half Marathon.

The closures within the TPF boundaries will be Palm from Olive to Belmont, Belmont from the 99 to Broadway, Van Ness from Belmont to Olive, Fulton from Olive to Bremer, and Olive from Van Ness to Palm.

Plan your route accordingly — and maybe use the extra time to walk or bike in! Performances will all continue as planned unless porch host decide otherwise. We’ve checked the map and there are very few porches along the closures, but prepare to go around the closures to get across Olive.

Trolley stops near and below Olive will be removed/adjusted until the closures are removed (we’ve been told by around noon). Those adjustments will hopefully be reflected on our digital map.

Wondering how to make the most out of Tower Porchfest? It’s less than a week away, so send this post to your crew and get ready to explore the Tower District on the best day of the year!! Here’s a breakdown...

Tip the Performers: Incredibly talented locals perform at Porchfest to beautify and embellish their community, and they do so for free. Show your appreciation and keep them coming back by bringing cash the day of to place in their tip jars.

Respect for the Neighborhood: Remember that Tower Porchfest takes place in a residential area. Be respectful of residents’ property, follow any posted rules or guidelines, and keep in mind that being a good example has a tremendously positive effect on those around you. Public consumption is still illegal and will not be tolerated by local law enforcement.

Rain or Shine: TPF will go on rain or shine. Bring the proper layer to stay dry and warm. Include an umbrella and ponchos to your packing list as well as a blanket with a plastic liner to use if the grass is wet. Avoid wet patches of leaves when riding your bike.

Minimize Driving: Fresno City College has graciously offered their parking lot to Porchfest attendees. Take advantage of this opportunity by parking there and hopping on the Fresno Hop Trolley, biking, boarding, or walking from porch to porch.

Comfortable Footwear: Tower Porchfest often involves a lot of walking and riding around as you move between different performances. Opt for comfortable shoes to keep your feet happy throughout the day.

Snacks and Water: While hosts are encouraged to have water available and there may be food vendors abound, bringing along some snacks and a water bottle ensures you have hydration and sustenance to keep you energized between performances. Consider packing some portable snacks like granola bars, fruit, or nuts.

Blanket or Lawn Chair: Having a blanket or a portable lawn chair can provide you with a comfortable place to sit and relax while enjoying the music. It’s especially useful if you plan on staying for multiple performances.

Portable Phone Charger: With all the photo-taking, navigating, and possibly sharing your experience on social media, your phone battery might drain quickly. Bringing a portable charger ensures you stay connected throughout the event.

Open Mind: Tower Porchfest showcases a diverse range of performance styles and genres. Keep an open mind and be willing to explore new sounds and performances—you might discover your new favorite artist!

Engage with the Community: Take the opportunity to interact with fellow festival-goers, performers, and organizers. Tower Porchfest is not just about the music, but also about fostering a sense of community and connection within the neighborhood.

By incorporating these tips into your Tower Porchfest experience, you’ll be sure to have a fantastic time enjoying the music, the neighborhood, the atmosphere, and the vibrant community spirit of this once-a-year event.
