The Music Country Grand Prix is a premier jumping event that benefits Saddle Up!, a therapeutic riding program for children and young adults with disabilities in Middle TN. The Music Country Grand Prix was first established in 1989 as 'The Music City Grand Prix' by Christian Currey with the help of his parents, Agneta and Brownlee. , Aaron Vale, Richard Cheska, and many of the area's premiere riders came to compete in this exciting event which featured River Circle's fabulous grass field and spectacular jumps. The Currey's tireless generosity provided the foundation for what was to become a very successful Nashville tradition. In 2001, the event moved to its current home, Brownland Farm (also in Franklin, Tennessee) where it runs in conjunction with the Brownland Farm Horse Show series. With the new location, came the new name, The Music Country Grand Prix. Show host Sissie Anderton has continued the Currey's vision by providing an excellent venue for riders, horses, and spectators alike. She, too, has worked tirelessly along with her son, Robin, to make this the premiere show jumping event in Middle Tennessee. The sponsorship base for the Grand Prix has grown over the years to include many local and regional businesses and individuals. Tractor Supply Company is the "Grand Champion" sponsor. Other sponsorship levels include The Paddock at the Pavilion, Champion, Reserve Champion, Blue Ribbon, People Prix, Red Ribbon, and Yellow Ribbon sponsors. Patrons and spectators enjoy a fun-filled day of exhilarating competition, delicious food, shopping and "The People Prix". The People Prix is an event where children (and adults) can compete for prizes by jumping a course of obstacles on their own two feet! Since the Music Country Grand Prix's inception in 1990, Saddle Up! has been the beneficiary of charitable dollars raised from the event. Each year of the event, we celebrate the Grand Prix's founders, riders, hosts, sponsors, and patrons who have all played a part in creating Saddle Up!'s most successful fundraiser. Over the last 30 years, the Music Country Grand Prix has raised more than $2 million to support Saddle Up!.
