Greetings, lovers of Missouri Day!

Shiann Garrett, here. 👋🏽
Now that the dust has settled from the news of our dear Becca’s resignation, I am asking for Volunteers to step up and help me continue on. It has been a pleasure to work beside Becca for the last 9 years and I know because I have been her sidekick, the community is looking at me to fill her shoes. However, being a mother of three young and very busy children, running a business with my husband, selling real estate, coaching multiple teams throughout the year and every thing in between… 😅… I know I cannot do this alone. In the past Becca and I have made all the decisions, organized and coordinated everything, but moving forward I would like to form a board of directors who will oversee certain events. This will prevent me from having to micromanage every single detail and allow me to still have time for all of the other things I must do. In addition to directors, I’ll need many, many others to be our muscle 💪🏽. While the Board of Directors will be planning and coordinating throughout the year, the muscle will come in the week of and help set up, run and clean up. If we have enough muscle 💪🏽 we can schedule it to where all volunteers work a short shift and then they can carry on and enjoy the rest of the weekend. This is my hope for all. It has been very hard in the past for those very few volunteers we have to actually enjoy the weekend because everyone is working themselves to death.
So I am asking those that are willing, to please reach out to me. If you are interested in being on the board to help in decision making and be in charge of your very own event, there will be an application that needs to be filled out. *Note that some of the positions have already been filled.* If you want to be the muscle, I’ll add you to my contacts and will be in touch closer to Missouri Day 2026 to get you scheduled. Some examples of jobs the “muscle” will be required to do; hang banners, set up tents, tables and chairs, put together fencing for the beer garden, run the beer gardens, pick up trash, take admission at the dances, and of course; clean it all up and store for the following year.

Change is hard and the work is plenty, so please help me make this transition as smooth as possible and continue to provide our community with this cherished tradition! 🫶🏼
