⛳ Round 1 is in the books at the 27th Kathy Whitworth Invitational!
A field of 70 of the nation’s top junior girls golfers began competition today at The Lakes at Castle Hills, with 68 players completing the opening round.
Three players share the lead at 4-under par (68) after Round 1:
Ashnoor Kaur – Roanoke, VA (Class of 2027, University of Missouri commit)
Ashley Shaw – Litchfield Park, AZ (Class of 2027, University of Georgia commit)
Hailey Kim – Simi Valley, CA (Class of 2029)
After a cloudy start to the morning, the North Texas skies cleared for a beautiful afternoon with temperatures in the low 80s. Wind gusts up to 19 mph added an extra challenge for the field.
Now in its 27th year, the Kathy Whitworth Invitational continues to attract elite junior talent, with players representing 16 states and 3 countries. This is the second year the championship is being played at The Lakes at Castle Hills, set up at 6,308 yards.
The field was supported by 15 USGA-certified Rules Officials, while NCAA Division I coaches walked the course observing the competitors.

The tournament concludes tomorrow as players compete for the Kathy Whitworth Invitational title.
Over its history, the event has crowned champions such as LPGA stars Nelly Korda and Paula Creamer, along with many players who have gone on to successful collegiate and professional careers.
