Big Brothers Big Sisters celebrated its 53rd Gourmet Dinner after bringing in $215,000 to support local youth in its mentoring programs. Around 1,000 supporters gathered for the event, which helps fund meaningful, long-term connections between mentors and young people. Hosted at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, the evening highlighted keynote speaker Don Fischer, the “Voice of the Hoosiers.”

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be blessed with good health,” said Fischer, speaking at the Grand Wayne Center before acting as the featured speaker at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana Gourmet Dinner. “I’m definitely going to do next season and I’m going to take it year by year now.

Don Fischer isn't going anywhere any time soon. The 79-year-old radio voice of IU athletics for the last 53 years will be back for Year 54 in the fall.
