I had a great evening teaching childbirth education for Birth Matters at the Holy Family Birth Center! Unbiased childbirth education means presenting all the options and information, and trusting the you as the birthing family are the best ones to decide what's right for your birth. What a blessing it is to have supportive OBs and midwives who want that for their patients and encourage them to take this class!

Happy Father's Day! I've mentioned in my childbirth education classes that men, historically, were not part of the birth experience of their children until the 1960s. But in my experience as a doula, I have seen firsthand what a blessing this cultural shift has been. Fathers, your presence is meaningful and irreplaceable. We celebrate the men who embody strength and sacrifice on this Father's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Caring for mothers is why I love birth work so much. To witness the birth of a baby is to witness the birth of a mother. That transformation is always sacred, and always an honor to behold. I hope today you feel cherished and celebrated, because you deserve it!
