Who is ready for some Fort Riley Fall Apple Day history?

the very first Fall Apple Day was called Apple Days? The event was established as an open house for the Custer House to ‘give people an idea of what it was like to have lived in the frontier Army days’. It was held on Sunday, October 19, 1986 and included tours of the Custer House with live demonstrations of quilt sewing, gardening, wood chopping, bread making, wheat weaving and apple crushing. 19 volunteers started it all.
