In response to recent inquiries, we would like to announce that we will not be hosting the Juneteenth Freedom Fest this year. However, we encourage others to continue with their planned celebrations, providing the community with additional opportunities to gather safely. We send our blessings to all and express gratitude for the support we received during previous events. The Juneteenth Freedom Fest was a truly community-funded initiative, made possible by the contributions of individuals from near and far.

Opal Lee (born October 7, 1926) is an American retired teacher, counselor, and activist in the movement to make Juneteenth a federally-recognized holiday. She is often described as the "grandmother of Juneteenth". Marshall, Texas, U.S. On June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed Senate Bill S.

Opal Lee was only 12 years old in 1939 when a racist white mob stormed and set fire to her home in Fort Worth, Texas, and 85 years later, she is reclaiming their land.
