At this time, plans for the annual Sam Phillips Music Celebration are on hold, pending revisions to regulations for events in the City of Florence. Since the inception of the event 8 years ago, Big River Broadcasting has spent over $1,000,000 to promote and preserve the musical heritage and legacies of this area. However, city ordinances and logistics make it difficult to stage events of this magnitude effectively and efficiently for people of all ages. It is our understanding that a number of issues are being addressed at the State, City and City Council levels to better facilitate events, including, but not limited to a new venue. We look forward to a progressive approach from State, City and County leaders that will allow events in Florence and The Shoals to further preserve and showcase the musical heritage of this area. Words cannot express how much we appreciate the support from all of the fans for this event. The event is not gone-just on hold.

Sam Phillips is featured in this film :) There will be a VIP premiere on February 27th that includes live music & a star studded after party in the Sam Phillips suite at the Marriott Shoals! There will also be a showing of the film Friday March 1st at Norton Auditorium! All proceeds from both shows will benefit the Alabama Music Hall of Fame! YOU WANT TO SEE THIS! YOU NEED TO KNOW THE MUSICAL HISTORY OF MUSCLE SHOALS!

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Musician B.B. Cunningham Jr., a member of Jerry Lee Lewis’ band, was killed in a Memphis shootout early Sunday, police said.
