Come celebrate the season with the Celtic Halloween Festival, honoring the origins of our modern holiday with a concert, pig roast and historical recreations of the customs of the Irish, Scottish and Welsh peoples. There will even be some spooky surprises, with creatures from Celtic folkore lurking in the shadows.
Known as "Oidhche Shamhna" in Gaelic and "Calan Gaef" in Welsh, the Celts celebrated Halloween with a bonfire around which people would make merry with food, music, traditional customs and stories. On a night in which ghosts and monsters are said to roam the earth, the "Hwch ddu Gwta" or "Cutty Black Sow"- a spectral pig monster- was the chief terror associated with the Celtic Halloween.
