This past Saturday, March 7th, Youth Flight Experience held its 10th annual kids flying event. Pilots and volunteers were able to give about 30 kids an opportunity to experience flight in general aviation airplanes in the skies over Fitzgerald. By all accounts it was a great success! Many kids and parents have said what a great time the kids had getting to view the world from 2000 feet.

Update: With the response from Wednesdays post we are now fully registered, registration is now closed. If you have or know of any kids that would like to fly, please send in their information and we will put their name(s) on a standby list. If we don't get to take your child flying this year we look forward to flying them next year!

Parents,
I’m excited to announce that the 10th annual Youth Flight Experience is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th!
A number of people have volunteered their time, and pilots have volunteered their time and their airplanes to give our kids this opportunity to experience flight in the skies over Fitzgerald! This is a wonderful opportunity for our kids to get a chance to see our beautiful earth from a whole new perspective!
Youth Flight Experience is pleased to once again team up with Community Bank of Fitzgerald to sponsor commemorative t-shirts for each kid! Also, this year, Community Bank and YFE sponsored an artwork contest where kids created artwork to be featured on the commemorative t-shirts. We had some wonderful entries, and we will be announcing the winner soon!
This year, due to different circumstances, this event has been significantly downsized. Due to the downsizing, we will not have as many flights and will not be able to carry as many kids flying this year. We only have about 16 spots left. If you have a child that wants to fly please do not hesitate. Get them registered.

Registration is now closed.

Registration for Youth Flight Experience 2025 was opened on Tuesday August 19th and the response has been great! We now have SIXTY kids registered for YFE and we are now full! Registration is now closed.

If you have a child who would like to fly, send in their information and we will put their names on our standby list and if we have any vacancies open up we will contact you.

On Tuesday, August 19th registration for Youth Flight Experience 2025 was opened and the response has been great! We’re almost full! However, we do still have 10 more slots available. If you have a child or know of a child who would like to fly with YFE please sign them up. This is an excellent opportunity to give a child the experience of seeing the world from above!

Youth Flight Experience is for kids ages 8 to 18. If your child has not flown with YFE before then there is no cost, it's free! If your child has flown with YFE before, we ask that you help spread this opportunity to kids by either recruiting other children or by sharing Youth Flights Experience's Facebook post once it is posted.

SAVE THE DATE!!!

Parents,

On March 1st of this year Youth Flight Experience and about 20 + volunteers were primed and ready to give more than 50 kids an opportunity to experience aviation in Fitzgerald Ga. Planes and pilots were ready to go, numerous volunteers had made their way to the airport, some even coming from out of town. Unfortunately mother nature had other ideas. The day started out as a beautiful, cloudless day. The day started out with a few winds, but they weren't too bad during the morning. As the day progressed the winds kept getting stronger and stronger. About an hour before start time the team of pilots made the decision that it would be best to postpone the event until another day to keep kids, pilots and airplanes safe. Well, that day is near!

The rescheduled date for Youth Flight Experience 2025 is Saturday, September 6th. We'll open registration in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned to your email or to the Youth Flight Experience page for further details!

This Saturday morning it was with HUGE disappointment that we had to make the decision to postpone the YFE event for the day. As the day started winds were present but were mild enough not to present a danger to the airplanes. But as the day progressed so did wind strength and by 11:45 it was a consensus of the pilots involved in the event the wind strength and wind gust would at the very least be very uncomfortable for many of the kids and could possibly end up hurting someone. We don't want either of these!! So, we made the decision to postpone to another day.

We had a number of volunteers who had driven from out of town to be here to talk to and inspire our kids. We had an air traffic controller from Waycross, pilots from Moody Air Force Base and pilots from Middle Georgia State University had all come from out of town to inspire our kids. We want to thank these pilots greatly for making such an effort, we hope they will come back again!

Does anybody have a daylight viewable TV that we can borrow for one afternoon?

Youth Flight Experience is coming up in just 2 weeks and we have an Air Traffic Controller from the FAA’s Jacksonville Air Traffic Control Center coming to be with us for the day. We would like to have a tv to hook up to a computer to show kids what Air Traffic Controllers do.

The tv needs to be bright enough to be seen under a small tent in full daylight. If you have a tv that can be seen outside we would like to borrow it for an afternoon.

If you can help us make this a great day for our kids in this way please let me know!!
