Happy Friday! Guess who’s back!?

It’s been a minute since we did a Collaborator Reveal, and we are excited for the second part of this series.

We are so thrilled to be partnering with GOBAR LLC for our Hive Housewarming Party (and future events)! GoBar provides a Mobile Bar Experience and also offers a Graze Station. I’m thrilled they agreed to take ownership of the Housewarming bevvies and can’t wait to see them shine!

This collaboration is so special for me because it hits close to home. Literally. Owned and operated by Juli and Joe, a mother-son team, Juli lives next door to The Hive!

Back in December, I (Melissa) nervously walked to their house with an envelope in-hand. That envelope contained a letter explaining a little about me, my intention to purchase the property next door to their home, and my intention to turn it into a business called The Hive.

I was terrified, to say the least. I didn’t know the family who lived in the gorgeous yellow farmhouse. What if they hated the idea of having a business operating next door to their home?

I knocked on the door, handed the envelope to their daughter, and waited.

A few weeks later, I received the most delightful message. Juli had received my letter and was thrilled! An entrepreneur herself, she and her family have championed The Hive from day one and have been a huge source of support for me throughout this journey.

I am so excited to return the favor and support their new business, too.

It’s Mr. Hive’s birthday tomorrow! We recognize each day of this life is a gift - not a guarantee - and we are grateful for today.

To express our gratitude for another healthy, beautiful year on this planet, we decided to kick off his birthday weekend festivities by volunteering at Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

How will you practice gratitude and generosity today? Hint: it doesn’t have to involve money, grand gestures, or copious amounts of time. Much love to you all!

It’s been a minute since I posted a Collective Buzz! I’ve been reminded how powerful these posts can be; not only do they help keep you, our community in the loop, they also give me an opportunity to reflect and celebrate how far we’ve come!

So much has happened in the past month, we couldn’t even fit it all in the image for this post! We’ve been going to bed late every night and waking up sore every morning, and our hearts couldn’t be more full. Our village has shown up in so many ways. They’ve provided muscle, time, energy, emotional support - and so much love. We are so grateful, and we wouldn’t be at this point without them.

There are also MANY conversations happening with other small business owners who will be bringing their magic to The Hive. I am very excited to provide more details in the coming weeks!

Stunned. Grateful. Exhilarated.

Those are just a few words to describe how I feel about this past weekend. I am so grateful to my village and greater community for making this event happen. Meeting so many new people and seeing so many familiar faces really warmed my heart. Based on community feedback, you’re really excited about what we’re building here at The Hive - and I am, too.

Y’all showed up in so many ways. From donating your time, talents, products, services and baked goods, to simply walking through the door and saying hello, please know I appreciate you.

Inspired by Marlon Hall's mosaic dinner concept, The Hive presents: Community Meals.

A Community Meal at The Hive is an experience. It is not a simple meal with superficial and awkward conversation. A guided event, our Community Meals seek to take you on a journey that involves sharing, caring, and holding space for those in attendance.

This meal is designed to nourish both your body and your soul. You’ll leave the event with a new perspective, as well as a greater understanding and appreciation for those in your community. Arrive as strangers, but leave as companions.

Ram Dass, Love Serve Remember says « we’re all just walking each other home. » Let’s enjoy the walk and get to know our fellow travelers a bit better.

For 10 weeks now, I’ve kept you posted on The Hive journey and the progress being made through the Collective Buzz series. It’s amazing to look back at the Collective Buzz vol. 1 and realize that, at that time, our website (www.lovethehive.com) wasn’t even live yet!

In just 10 weeks, I’ve seen so much change.

The website went live! I hosted a very fun and successful neighborhood meeting. I’ve navigated the Rezoning and Conditional Use Permit application process. I’ve had dozens of amazing conversations with neighbors, community members, business owners, and City officials. I navigated a painful scam and stayed the course.

Together, we’ve donated a total of $99 to non-profits: $44 to Community Immigration Law Center, $25 to Porchlight, $30 to Embolden - Wisconsin.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is real. It’s exhilarating. Thank you for being part of the journey to bring this heart-centered business to life.

Mark your calendars, Hive Community! We’re hosting a super fun, community-driven fundraising event next month.

This event will be a great opportunity for you to:

1) learn more about The Hive and experience some of what we will offer our community.
2) see The Hive’s space as it exists today (before renovations).
3) find some treasure - this is a garage sale, bake sale, and silent auction!
4) meet your neighbors!
5) meet Melissa - the person behind The Hive!

We’re welcoming you in before everything is “picture-perfect”. Why? Because you’re part of this transformation. We want you to see what the space looks like today. We want you to start to see, feel, touch, taste, and experience what The Hive has to offer.

All of the proceeds from this event will go toward creating a space for our community to Indulge, Connect, and Experience. Let’s do this. Together.

Happy Friday, my loves! You guessed it: time for another Hive Collaborator Reveal!

My husband has treated me to Vicki’s Cookies () several times over the past few years. Based on taste alone, I knew I wanted to ask Vicki if she wanted to collaborate with The Hive.

Then, I had the pleasure of meeting the woman behind the business. Vicki is a true gem of a human. She’s an incredibly loving, joyful, and generous human - in addition to a very talented baker. My desire to collaborate with her became a NEED to collaborate. :) I am so happy we’ll be able to offer Vicki’s Cookies at pop-ups and our events once we’re open, and I’m grateful she’ll have a presence at The Hive.

When Vicki and I met, I told her about some of the events we’d be offering at The Hive. When I described Domingo Sem Pressa (Lazy Sundays), Vicki’s eyes lit up. Who else is excited to spend a Domingo Sem Pressa at The Hive?!
