AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT ART AT THE MILL 2026

After a lot of thought and conversation, I’ve made the decision to discontinue Art at the Mill in downtown Ortonville. I had full intentions to do the show annually in Ortonville (I have been planning for months), but with the complications that the Village and Township imposed on me, I was not able to move forward with the show.

This was incredibly difficult to step away from. The first year of the show was something I was so proud of, and the support and excitement from artists made it even more special.

However, it became clear during the planning process that there were limitations behind the scenes with the Village that made it difficult to put this event on.

And if I’m going to create something for this community, I want to do it in a space that fully supports artists, creativity, and growth.
This is not the end—just a redirection.

I’m currently planning a new art fair experience in Ferndale, Michigan for July 2027—one that will allow for more opportunity.

If you were excited about Art at the Mill, I promise this next chapter will be worth the wait.

There’s something truly special about watching history come to life. 🛠️
One of the biggest hits during Art at the Mill was our working blacksmith shop, open throughout the event with live demonstrations by the Old Mill Historical Society volunteers. Seeing these traditional skills in action added such a meaningful, hands-on element to the day and made the mill feel alive in the best way.
We’re so excited to share that artist applications are almost ready and will be opening to the public soon! 🎨
