We are deeply saddened by the passing of someone who has truly been instrumental to the Ferguson Twilight Run and to the heart of our community – Gerry Noll. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire community he impacted so positively in so many ways.
From the very beginning with Live Well Ferguson (the initiative that led to the creation of the Ferguson Twilight Run), Gerry worked tirelessly to help make our community more active, healthy, and connected. His passion carried through initiatives like Sunday Parkways and the Ferguson Twilight Run. He showed up in every possible way — serving on our nonprofit board and the planning committee, helping organize cheer stations and recruit volunteers, opening his business for packet pickup, and initially sponsoring the Virtual Run to bring people from across the country (and world) together. His vision included all cities named Ferguson should participate!
Many of us will remember the joy he found in sharing photos of his family - his wife, children, and grandchildren - proudly participating, whether locally or from wherever they lived. He also brought his love of cycling into the event by organizing and implementing bike course monitors, blending his passions in a way that strengthened the experience for everyone involved.
Gerry’s commitment to the community extended far beyond the run. He dedicated his time and energy to numerous efforts, including the Civilian Oversight Board, PROUD, and volunteering with the Ferguson Youth Initiative. He was also instrumental in organizing the Ferguson Twilight Ramble — an effort to engage more residents in cycling throughout the city. Notably, the sharrows seen on Ferguson streets today are a direct result of his advocacy.
More than anything, Gerry was a remarkable neighbor, community member, and friend — someone who brought energy, compassion, accountability, and genuine care to everything he touched.
Words cannot fully capture how deeply he will be missed—not only by all of us on the FTR Planning Committee, but by so many throughout the community. His impact reaches across countless areas of Ferguson and its residents, leaving a legacy that will endure for years to come. His spirit is woven into the very fabric of what we continue to build together through the Ferguson Twilight Run and within the broader community.
We look forward to working with his family to honor his passions, his efforts, and his memory in a way that reflects just how much he meant to all of us. Gerry - we will forever love you. Thank you!
