Dash Point March 21st 🦆

Can you believe it's already March? We are just 3 weeks away from our second race of the year at Dash Point State Park! Pierce County runners delight because this salt water delight takes place just 20 minutes from downtown Tacoma and features stunning views of the Sound, lush forests, and probably also some ducks.

Dash point is your second opportunity of the year to earn a Woodle, and this one will have you quacking up all afternoon (sorry). As we learned from Arthur, King of the Britains, (spoilers) duck's float because they are made of wood 👨‍🔬 These ducks are literally made of wood .

Come run the race.

🏔️ LORD HILL TRAIL RUN RECAP 📸
Yesterday was the first race of our 2026 season, and our runners showed UP and made some magic happen on the trails! The weather was pretty mild for a February morning, but so many of our runners’ races ended with rain and it was amazing seeing everyone power through and cross that finish line.

I’d like to chime in for a moment and just call out how incredible our Evergreen Trail Runs crew is. I subbed in today, but usually stick to working the road races and running the trail races for funsies. This team showed up at 5am, three hours before our first runners started, and they stayed an hour past when our final runner crossed the finish line to pack up the truck and head home. They work long days (13 hours today) and love what they do so much - it was so fun to be included!

To our runners, you all are absolutely wild. I’ve run up that hill and it is a BEAST. Every single person who crossed that finish line today ran up it at least once… and dozens of you climbed to the top THREE FREAKING TIMES. I have no idea where you found the fortitude to do it but know that we are all so proud of you!

Big thank you to Grant at Sahale PT (go follow his new IG account !) for helping our runners work on some problem areas today, and Adventure Medics () for patching us up so we could keep going. We are lucky to have such talented professionals at our races keeping everyone healthy.

Doug (original recipe) and I are curled up on the couch and catching up on Love is Blind, but we sure hope you’re already thinking of your next event with . Maybe you’ll be at Dash Point next month? And maybe I’ll see you there, too. :)
Bye for now, trail friends!
-Amy

🚒 Calling all firefighters 🔥

This Spring we’re proud to help support the Leavenworth Firefighter Challenge presented by Mystery Ranch, a race designed exclusively for those who have worked or volunteered with a fire suppression agency at any point in their lives.

This 10K trail race is built to highlight real firefighter grit on rugged terrain. All divisions compete in full PPE, Probies in running shoes, Arduous racers in woodland boots with a 25‑lb pack, and Sawyers taking on the full Arduous load plus a chainsaw.

After the race, you’re going to want a beer… and some food. A live band, delicious local food, and frosty beers from around the Valley await our racers at the finish line. Relax and hang out with your fellow firefighters. We’ll be handing out awards and raffle prizes. It’ll be cool stuff that you will want, we promise.

If that’s you or someone you know, this is your chance to take on a unique challenge in the Cascades. Tag a friend who should be on that start line.

Where do I even begin!?!

🏃 Training Tips for Every Distance*

5K–10K
• Start training 6–8 weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 15–25 miles
• Practice your “this hill isn’t real” breathing technique

Half Marathon
• Start training 10–12 weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 25–40 miles
• Master the art of eating a gel without getting it on your eyebrows

20–30K
• Start training 12–14 weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 30–45 miles
• Train your legs to accept that “just one more climb” is always a trap

50K
• Start training 14–16 weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 40–55 miles
• Practice deep philosophical thoughts for mile 22 when you start questioning everything

50M–100K
• Start training 16–20 weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 50–70 miles
• Practice muttering "of course there’s another hill" with the calm acceptance of someone who has seen too much.

100 Miles
• Start training 20–24+ weeks before race day
• Peak weekly mileage: 60–90 miles
• At this point you’re not training your legs — you’re training your sanity. You’ve officially entered the “willingly unhinged” category, and honestly, respect.

Eleven races. Eleven chances to test your legs, your grit, and your season goals.
Start training. Start planning. We’ll see you out there.
