“St. Patrick’s Day! St. Patrick’s Day!
Oh! thou tormenting Irish lay—
I’ve got thee buzzing in my brain,
And cannot turn thee out again.
☘️
Oh, mercy! music may be bliss
But not in such a shape as this,
When all I do, and all I say,
Begins and ends in Patricks’s Day...”

An excerpt from by ELIZA COOK

The grounds are open dawn to dusk for reflection, walking and trail hiking. The house and shop remain closed.

Due to the recent concerns over COVID-19, and in support of local and state efforts to minimize its spread through our community, has made some changes that will affect daily operations for the next 30 days.

While our lovely estate will remain open to visitors for hiking, picnics, lamb-peeping and all other outdoor activities, beginning Saturday, March 14, Hill-Stead will be providing tours of the house museum by appointment only.

To arrange a tour, please contact Kate Ebner, by email at [email protected] or telephone at 860.677.4787 x140. To ensure that we have staff available to conduct all private tours, advance reservations are greatly encouraged. Please note, regular admission rates apply to all tours of the house museum. Our museum shop will remain open according to its normal schedule.

We plan to reschedule most of our impacted programs and will communicate new dates for these events as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

🌼Repost from will have a table at the show on Thursday. Please stop by! 🌸After you've strolled through the gardens, make sure to stop by and check out our Florist Invitationals! This year, in keeping with our Garden Party theme, our Florist, Design Vignette and Window Box Invitationals will all be centered around taking the party outside - to the garden! In the meantime, here's a roundup of some of our favorites from Florist Invitationals of years past.

Some fabulous (and timely)🤝advice :
“For people who want to avoid the handshake, I have created two alternative contactless greeting options. First option: “Stop, Drop & Nod”, second option “Grasp and Greet”. If someone reaches out to shake YOUR hand, you can simply say “I’m going handshake free to be extra careful”. Both socially and in business, a contactless greeting is now widely accepted practice and still shows respect without the pressure to shake hands during the current climate, particularly by indicating thoughtfulness for other people’s health. 💫 I hope that’s helpful to you all. Stay healthy and safe❤️❤️❤️ Song on my beats boombox is Stand By Me, John Lennon
