He attended SMU for two years then served in the US Army active duty for two years, active reserve for two years, and inactive reserve for two years. He spent a few years as business manager at KYTE radio in Washington state. He came to work with channel 8 in accounting and was promoted to program director there. He married in 1987 and then went to Atlanta, Georgia to work for the Ted Turner organ
ization (TBS), known then as The Superstation, in 1988. He worked there as program director and was promoted to Senior Vice President. After a brief retirement, he was hired by Katz Broadcasting and programmed Bounce TV, Laff TV, and Grit. Katz Broadcasting was bought out by Scripps TV where he continued TV programming until July, 2022, when he retired. He loved sports, popular music, and especially movies. He was also an amateur songwriter. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, two stepsons, Kurt and Kyle Muehlstein, three grandchildren Taylor, Clayton and Trevor Muehlstein, a niece Teresa Harris and several grand and great grand nieces and nephews. After retiring in 2022, he and his wife moved to Briarview Senior Living where he continued his love of movies and often showed Thursday afternoon movies to the residents there. He was a member of the Church of One Love, (previously known as The Cathedral of Light), located at 2570 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. A Celebration of Life service will be held January 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the above address followed by a reception in the social hall.
