Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, The Human Family stands in solidarity with Trans Families in North Dakota and around the globe. We denounce the legislative efforts to remove identity and access to health care in North Dakota.

As a society, we must stand together to remember the lives lost due to anti-transgender violence and discrimination. We must acknowledge the injustices that have been committed against the Transgender community, and work to create communities where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their gender identity.

To our Transgender colleagues and friends: We want to thank you for your courage, your strength, and your resilience in the face of adversity. We want to thank you for being true to yourselves, even when the world is not always accepting. Your existence is an act of resistance, and you inspire us to continue fighting for a more just and equitable society.

You are not alone. There are many people who stand with you and who are committed to creating a world where you can thrive. We will continue to raise our voices and fight for your rights until justice is served.

We see you. We hear you. We support you.

We understand that you face many challenges and obstacles that are not of your own making. You deserve to live your life free from discrimination, hate, and violence. You deserve to be accepted and celebrated for who you are.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, let us honor the lives lost and work together to build a more inclusive and just world for all.

With love and solidarity,

The Human Family

It's Giving Hearts Day!

With your help, we aim to raise $11,000 to meet our full match to support our work promoting human rights and social justice through film and art.

The mission of The Human Family is to celebrate and amplify the courageous voices of filmmakers and artists, bringing awareness to human rights, civil rights, or social justice issues. The Human Family believes that engagement with difficult conversations through film and art cultivates learning and compassion, amplifies the voice of underrepresented artists, and promotes diversity. The Human Family encourages community change through empathy, understanding, and perspective-shifting.

The Human Family is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts to receive a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000. This grant will support the 2023 North Dakota Human Rights Film & Arts Festival.

NDHRFF centers conversations around and amplifies the voices of those who have been systemically underrepresented so that residents of North Dakota gain a deeper understanding of the historical underpinnings of urgent contemporary human rights, civil rights, and social justice issues.

This grant is one of 1,251 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling nearly $28.8 million that were announced by the NEA as part of its first round of fiscal year 2023 grants.
