A Cannonball Moment is a place where purpose meets a new path; it’s understanding the why that drives everything we do.

Roger Federer played 1,526 singles matches and won almost 80% of them.

But he only won 54% of the points.

Twenty Grand Slam titles, built on 54%.

In his commencement speech he explained it. It's only a point. Hit the best backhand of your life? It's only a point. Double fault? It's only a point.

When you're winning, don't get too high. When you're losing, don't get too low. There's another point coming.

Sales is the same game. You don't need extraordinary behaviors to be an extraordinary sales professional. You need ordinary ones, done with discipline every single day.

Miss one with a customer? Win the next point. Nail one? Don't get greedy. Win the next point.

Do that and you'll win more than you lose.

8 years ago, Morgan walked through our doors. Since then, she has shaped how we work, how we show up for our builders, and how we show up for each other. Cannonball would not be what it is without her.

Happy 8 years; here's to what comes next.

Every buyer is moving. Away from pain, or toward joy.

The family asking for a bigger home is tired of being on top of each other every night. The buyer asking for a home office is picturing being home when the kids walk in the door.

The request is rarely the reason. When I listen for what someone is trying to leave behind, or what they want badly enough to change, the conversation changes.

Find the distance. Then help them cross it.

It’s not rejection. It’s clarity.

When a buyer says no, ask one more question: “I appreciate you telling me that. Can you tell me what’s the reason that it’s a no?”

Most buyers will tell you. And a reason is data. Without it, you’re guessing: the rate down the street, the yard, the price.

A real reason gives you a next move. Stop guessing. Ask why.

Every buyer who leaves your model is about to have a conversation you won't be in.

Chad keeps coming back to this one in our trainings. Swipe for what he means, and what to do about it.

People believe what they hear themselves say far more than anything you tell them.

That's why the strongest line in sales is one the buyer already said. You just have to hand it back: "Because of the fact you said..."

Swipe for the sentence and the question you have to ask before you can use it.

Somebody just came to mind, didn't they.

The one who runs the group chat. Who books the thing. Who remembers the detail everyone else forgot.

We're hiring an Executive Assistant in our Fallston office. We coach sales teams all around the country, so our founder is on the road most weeks. This is the person who keeps all of it moving.

Local to Harford County. Full time, with some travel, and that's one of the perks.

Tag them. We'll take it from there.

Most performance problems are belief problems in disguise.

Someone very close to me is a young athlete, and the coaching she's getting isn't the coaching I would give her.

Her problem isn't skill. Sure, there's a tweak or two in the mechanics. There always is.

What's really happening is the story she tells herself before she steps up to the plate.

Same thing in sales. Somebody walks in open, interested, ready to buy a home from you. In that second, what do you believe? About them. About your ability. About your process.

That belief is already deciding the outcome.

She doesn't need more reps. She needs to see that she's capable. That she's worthy. That she's enough.

It's already in there. The work is getting it back out.

Most leaders aren't protecting their culture. They're protecting themselves.

I had a conversation recently I didn't want to have, and it put this right back in front of me.

A lot of leaders are delusional about the culture they've built. They believe it's something it isn't. And looking at it honestly costs something, so they don't look.

What if it isn't what I think it is?
What if it needs real work?
What if I have to change our people?

We say it around here. You either change your people, or you change your people.

So ask the harder questions instead. Does our culture actually say something about our core values? Are our people psychologically safe? Can they speak up without paying for it later?

Stop protecting yourself and go look.

A VP of sales told me his work doesn't matter.

He said, Chad, I've been sitting here all day listening to you. I sell football and baseball uniforms to kids. I'm not curing cancer. In the grand scheme of things what I do doesn't really matter. I just sell uniforms.

I said that's your narrative. You just sell uniforms.

He said yes.

So I asked him this.

Right now there's a ten year old in Baltimore. Maybe he comes from a broken home. Maybe the schools failed him. Maybe he sleeps on the floor.

That kid might play football.

And when he pulls that uniform over his head, people cheer. People scream his name.

You make that kid feel important when everything around him tells him he isn't.

Have you ever considered that narrative?

You don't sell uniforms.

You make people feel important.
