Nobody warned me that motherhood gets REAL quiet & lonely when your kids become teenagers and begin to enter the grown-ish phase. Or maybe they did, but I didn’t listen or believe them.
One day, you’re breaking up sibling arguments, finding missing chargers, and hearing “Mommmmyyyyy!” every 12 minutes, and then suddenly they’ve got friends, plans, group chats, jobs, dating conversations, heading to college, and whole lives developing outside of you.
And yes, we want independent kids. We pray for them to grow, mature, and spread their wings. But nobody talks enough about the emotional whiplash of realizing you’re no longer needed in the same loud, constant way.
This phase of motherhood?
It’s different.
And we need to talk about it more. No worries, I will.
